Chapter 9 Caring
After dinner, Laura lay down on the bed and took a nap. Two nights of exhaustion had left her head feeling dizzy and as if she were shrouded in a fog.
Suddenly, the phone rang, breaking the silence. It was Marcus' call, and Laura wanted to ignore it, but the ringing was like a death warrant, ringing one after another, as if it would never stop if she didn't answer.
She knew in her heart that this was probably because Mr. James' investment had not yet arrived and Marcus was already extremely anxious. When the phone rang again, Laura pressed the answer button helplessly.
