Chapter 5
For several days in a row, I noticed Jenna's Moments were updated frequently. She was either out riding or rock climbing with friends, or enjoying life in the club. It seemed that she was quite comfortable without me around. And in those photos, without exception, there was Brandon.
Jenna has never liked to show her life, and her circle of friends is always silent. I don't know if Brandon's appearance has changed her and stimulated her desire to express herself. However, I no longer care about these.
Now, my mind is full of new product design plans. I only glanced at the photos in the circle of friends and forgot about them.
After work that day, I was still revising the design draft in the office. The phone suddenly rang, and I was slightly stunned when I saw the name on the screen. It was Jenna, who I hadn't contacted for more than a month.
As soon as the call was connected, the familiar cold voice came from the receiver, and she chuckled: "Baby, are you still angry?"
I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the office, looking at the dim lights outside, and my heart was filled with peace.
"Although more than a month has passed, you transferred me without discussion. Do you still owe me an explanation?" I asked calmly.
" I just want to give you a better development opportunity. I know you don't want to leave me. If I discuss this with you, you will definitely disagree." She explained.
" So you just acted first and asked for your permission later? Jenna , you know this is totally inconsistent with the company's personnel change process, right? If someone else were to do it, they might just quit. You are just relying on my reluctance and sense of responsibility." I said with some dissatisfaction.
"Ryan , I was wrong. But I really did it for your own good. I have seen all the achievements you have made in the company over the years. You are capable and talented, and you can be independent. You have been in the headquarters for three years, and you have accumulated enough experience. All you need is a stage to fully display your talents. The design department of the branch is the springboard I gave you to let you jump to a higher level." She argued eloquently.
If I hadn't heard the words "It's really annoying to have you sticking around every day", I would have almost believed her words, and even been moved by her good intentions, and reflected on whether I was too willful.
"Is it because of Brandon? You transferred me as soon as he came back." I asked bluntly.
"What? What does it have to do with Brandon? All I'm saying is-" She was interrupted by the male voice next to her.
"Jenna, can I go with you in your car later?" Even after several years, I could still recognize Brandon's voice through the phone.
"You guys want to have dinner together?" I asked.
"Yes—" she replied.
I hung up the phone directly, thought about it, and sent her a WeChat message: "Let's break up."
