Chapter 7
For several days in a row, Jenna's circle of friends was full of her drunken state. I quietly blocked her, out of sight, out of mind.
There have been a lot of things to do recently. In addition to the design of new products, the department has also recruited three new colleagues. Among the previous designers, only two had the qualifications to lead people, so I assigned one to each of them, and the remaining newcomer had to lead by himself.
I sighed. The team is still short of people, capable and experienced designers. Fortunately, the kid I brought with me is smart and hardworking, a good seedling. That's right, a little too sophisticated and smooth.
Since she called me "Master", she would bring me a cup of hand-ground coffee from the coffee shop downstairs every morning. One time during lunch break, my office door was open, and she was surprised to see me eating bread when she passed by.
"Master? You only eat bread for lunch?" she asked.
" I have a report that I am in a hurry to finish. I don't have time to go out for dinner, and I forgot to order food." I pointed at the screen and explained. The branch is not as large as the headquarters, and there is no internal cafeteria here. Sometimes I forget to eat when I am in a hurry to complete the task. I only realize it when I am hungry. So I bought a large box of bread and put it in the office. When I don't have time to eat or I am hungry, I will just eat a piece of bread.
" Master, wait for me." Sophia left in a hurry after saying this. Ten minutes later, she came back with a package of exquisite meals.
"This is the only one with no queue. I was afraid you would be hungry, so I hurriedly packed it up and brought it back. I don't know if it suits your taste, so please make do with it for now," she said.
I looked at the logo on the takeaway box and was speechless. "Do you know why this is the only one with no queues? Because it's expensive." I reminded.
"Is it expensive?" She questioned sincerely. Thinking of her usual attire and the sports car she drove to work, I understood that she was definitely a second-generation rich.
From that day on, Sophia would order a portion for me every time she ordered lunch. She refused all the money I gave her.
" I know you don't need money, but you can't waste it like this ? The money in your family didn't come from the wind, it was earned by your parents with hard work, right ?"
She smiled and said cheerfully, "My father once said that in their time, apprentices had to kowtow to their teachers, and they had to bring gifts to visit during festivals. Since you are my master, it is natural for me to show my filial piety to you. A mere meal a day is nothing to mention. My father even thought I was too simple and said he would carefully select a gift for me to give to you."
"Absolutely not," I hurriedly stopped him, with a joking threat in my tone, "Otherwise, I will have to consider whether to continue to take you as my apprentice."
"Okay," she pouted, seeming a little aggrieved.
