Chapter 2

Jenna knew that I would definitely go to her after the transfer notice was released. Maybe she hadn't figured out how to explain it yet, or maybe she was too lazy to deal with me and chose to avoid me.

After get off work, I returned home in a daze, but received a call from a good friend. He told me that he met Jenna in a new club opened by a relative.

"Please help me ask that relative to find out which private room Jenna is in, thank you!" After hanging up the phone, I hurriedly took a taxi to the club. On the way, my friend sent me the name of the private room where Jenna was.

Standing at the door of the private room, I took a deep breath, held the door handle, and turned it gently. As soon as I pushed the door open a crack, I heard a clear conversation from inside.

" Did you really transfer Ryan to the branch in City C ?" This was the voice of Crystal , Jenna 's best friend since childhood , who is also a small shareholder of our group.

"Yeah." Jenna answered casually.

"I'm not saying anything, but you two have been friends since childhood. Can you bear to be separated from each other in the future?"

Jenna was silent for a moment, and her tone was still nonchalant: "It's really annoying to have you stick around every day."

My left hand tightened suddenly around the door handle.

"What if he doesn't agree? Aren't you afraid that he will come and make trouble with you?"

"The branch is looking for someone, and he's not the kind of person who doesn't consider the overall situation. Even if he can't find me, he'll be there on time next Monday." Jenna said briskly and confidently.

I smiled coldly. Should I be touched that she knows me so well? The director of the C City branch was maliciously poached by the rival company at a high price some time ago, leaving a mess waiting to be cleaned up. Even though I couldn't contact Jenna these days and couldn't wait for her explanation, I was indeed ready to report to the branch next Monday. She was right, my sense of responsibility made me unable to ignore the current mess in the branch's design department.

I thought that if I couldn't find her, I would just take over first, and when I found the right person later, I would be replaced. Except for me who just wanted to stay with Jenna , other designers would not refuse such a promotion opportunity.

However , when I heard her say "I am really annoyed", I suddenly seemed to lose all the courage to pursue her. In the past two years, I have felt that Jenna is getting more and more impatient with me, but I was only slightly disappointed, and I comforted myself that no matter how passionate the relationship is, it will slowly become dull one day. But now, without any signs, I am discouraged. Maybe the long-accumulated disappointment finally reached its peak at this moment.

I suddenly wanted to let myself go and stop making excuses for her. I couldn't deceive myself anymore and had to face the reality: Jenna didn't love me anymore and she was tired of our relationship.
