Chapter 2: Do this for the last time
Sophia stood firmly on her feet and turned around. What she saw was a man in home clothes and plain gold-rimmed glasses for office use. He looked both gentle and ascetic.
"David..." she called softly.
"Well, why don't you get some more sleep?" His voice was low and magnetic.
"It's time to get up." She responded softly.
The man noticed the faint dark blue in her eyes, and his eyes darkened slightly, "No need to get up so early to make breakfast for me."
"But I want to cook for you myself." There was a hint of determination in her tone.
"It makes no difference. The breakfast Auntie made..." The man seemed to realize something, and changed the subject, saying in a deep voice, "It's as good as what you made."
Sophia heard the perfunctory tone in his words. She quickly lowered her head, a stinging pain flashing in her eyes. Over the years, she had endured the difficulties posed by the Miller family's old cook, and had gone to ask for advice, just to be able to cook for David according to his taste. She treated the sarcasm, ridicule, and mockery of others as barking and turned a deaf ear to them. But now that he had said such words himself, it was like a sharp blade that deeply hurt her heart.
He really didn't care about her efforts.
Not at all.
Her persistence at this moment is like a clown directing and acting in her own show.
Sophia felt a sore nose, but when she looked up again, she had hidden all her emotions. She deliberately used a coquettish voice and gently pushed his chest with her fingertips.
" I know, I'm already up, let's do it for the last time." She turned around, facing away from him, and walked towards the bathroom with a crooked step.
After breakfast.
David is going to the company.
Sophia helped him tie his tie as usual, her hands around his neck, tying the tie much slower than usual.
The man asked in a deep voice: "What are you thinking about?"
"Ah?" She was a little dazed.
"Are you worried about something?" he asked again.
"No." She denied quickly.
The tie was finally tied.
She was about to move away, but the man gently hugged her waist, pulled her close, kissed her on the forehead, and then let go. His actions were gentlemanly and polite.
This is what she asked him to do every day.
When he kissed her like this before, her eyes would light up immediately. But at this moment, her eyes were like the silent lake, without a ripple.
The man frowned slightly, as if he had noticed something, "Were you exhausted last night?"
"Ah? No...no." Sophia responded a little flustered.
When he talked about last night, those colorful images instantly flooded into her mind. Her cheeks became even paler. The hotness of last night and the coldness of waking up formed a sharp contrast, which made her feel extremely heartbroken.
She lowered her head, her fingers curled unconsciously, tightly grasping the corner of her clothes.
A man's deep voice came from above her head: "I'll pick you up from the school anniversary meeting this afternoon?"
" No need, you're so busy, I'll ask the driver to take me there." She responded with a forced smile.
Beijing City Affiliated High School.
Sophia sat in the audience and smiled politely.
until--
The host of the forum invited outstanding alumni representatives one by one. David walked onto the stage with his long legs and was extremely gentlemanly, followed by several people. One of them was particularly graceful.
Sophia's smile froze on her face.
Amid the thunderous applause, the screams and whispers from the side were like sharp blades cutting her heart.
"Ahhh! David is so handsome! I fell in love with him in a second! The one sitting next to the senior is Brown Queen?! Ahhhh!!"
"Huh! Can a movie queen be considered an outstanding alumnus?"
" Why not? She is now world-renowned! She is the pride of the film industry! What's more, she donated 100 million temporarily! It was for David !"
"Ah? Are they in trouble?"
"We were in the same class. There were a lot of rumors about us when we were in school."
"Ahhh! Are they together? They are such a perfect match! So cute!"
"That's not the case. I heard that David was tricked by a bad woman while he was waiting for Brown Queen. They got married two years ago with a baby in their belly."
"Ahh?? No way? He got the marriage certificate just after he reached the age? Who abducted him? Who was so despicable and shameless? And he succeeded?! Are they divorced now?"
"I don't know. Now that Brown Queen is back, it should be soon."
Sophia had heard worse things before . But at this moment, the gossips of the school girls cut her heart like a sharp knife.
She sat stiffly in her seat, staring blankly at David and the actress on the stage.
She could stop them from meeting yesterday, but she couldn't stop them from meeting today or tomorrow.
They have achieved success and will meet at the top.
And Sophia . She was once a top student in the affiliated high school. But now she has become a useless woman. She only cares about David and their son. The clothes David wore to see the film queen were carefully selected by her. She didn't even dare to tell David . She didn't dare to let the Miller family know that she was seeing a psychiatrist. She was afraid that they would dislike her even more. She was afraid that they would not even let her take care of their son.
Her postpartum depression became more and more serious. The doctor strongly recommended that she take medicine. But she refused. She also fantasized about having another child to tie David down.
She is like this.
I had already lost miserably.
Sophia's vision gradually blurred. She left the scene early in embarrassment.
Beijing. A racing track.
Sophia put on her helmet and rode on her beloved bike that she had kept here for two and a half years. The wind whistled past her ears.
She had pursued David desperately before. Whenever she felt like she couldn't hold on any longer, she would rely on this speed to gather up the courage.
And now. She finally wants to let him go.
She is trapped in this blatant and unscrupulous unrequited love. She soberly watches herself falling deeper and deeper. She has completely lost herself.
She finally wanted to let herself go.
Her youthful love should have ended in a secret crush that never came to fruition, otherwise she would not have been tortured into the hideous appearance she is now.
On the winding mountain road, Sophia rode round and round until she was exhausted and finally stopped.
She walked toward the noisy crowd. One of the women had green highlights in her hair. She asked, "Do you have any medicine?"
"What medicine?" Sophia was a little confused.
"That kind of medicine." The woman said meaningfully.
Sophia understood immediately. She searched her bag. She found it and handed it to her. "Thank you." She said softly. Then she swallowed the medicine and drank a mouthful of water.
" Verbal thanks? Can you show some sincerity? Aren't you afraid that I will tell your dear David about this?" The woman teased.
"Whatever." Sophia responded calmly.
"Are you okay? Why do you seem so weird?" the woman asked worriedly.
"Let's go." Sophia rode her bike and left the competition area. A large truck drove towards them...
