Chapter 30: Retreat to advance, Mark's sinister plot
The four words "self-deprecation" were like a sharp blade that deeply hurt Diana 's heart. She was once an optimistic and brave woman who pursued love and risked her life for love. However, the cruelty of reality hurt her all over, made her heartbroken, and fearful, and finally chose to accept her fate. What she longed for was just a simple and peaceful life. She was afraid of those sudden changes, afraid that she would be immersed in a happy world of two people today, but forced to separate tomorrow due to the disparity in status.
Mark stared at Diana closely , with a firm light in his eyes. He slowly said: "On the day of our wedding, I made a promise to you that marriage would be a lifelong thing." Diana's lips trembled slightly, but she couldn't speak. At that time, she naively thought that they were both ordinary people.
Mark continued, "The day Rain came to you, we made a pinky promise to protect this marriage together." Diana's nose felt sore and tears welled up in her eyes. She quickly turned her head away, not wanting Mark to see her vulnerability.
