I stayed in the hospital until noon the next day.
During my stay in the hospital, Jack only sent me one message:
[Mona's ceiling is leaking, so I'll take her home to live with me~]
I could tell immediately that this was sent by Mona using Jack's phone.
When I got home, I entered the wrong password for the front door.
I was about to try a second time when the door opened from the inside.
Mona, wearing my apron, popped her head out from behind the door:
"Sister Grace, you're finally back!"
"The previous password was too complicated and I was too slow to remember it, so my brother changed it to my birthday."
"Please sit down first, I'll go get you some water!"
She welcomed me into the house like a hostess.
The aroma of food came from the house. She ran to the kitchen door excitedly and shouted to the people inside: " Brother Jack , Sister Grace is back!"
Jack came out, wearing the same couple apron as mine.
I bought it for him, but he thought it was childish and never wore it.
Now when I see him wearing it, I just think it looks ugly.
He glanced at me and gently asked Mona to go back to her room first.
Mona nodded obediently and came into my bedroom holding a bag of peanut snacks.
Jack and I were the only ones left in the living room.
He said with a straight face:
"You still remember to come back?"
I ignored the reproach in his eyes and asked thoughtfully:
"Mona...eating peanuts?"
I remember when Mona first became pregnant, Jack asked me to cook maternity meals for her.
Because there were a few peanuts in the dish, she had a severe allergy, which made Jack get furious with me.
Jack frowned, looking puzzled:
"What did you say?" I knew he didn't remember it, so I didn't bother to explain it to him:
"nothing."
He didn't ask any further questions, but looked me up and down.
"Okay, go put on some makeup and get ready. Today is Mona's birthday, and I've booked a room at the KTV."
He paused and added:
"Just wear light makeup, don't steal the birthday girl's limelight."
I said without hesitation:
"I'm busy, you guys go ahead."
Jack frowned:
"Mona has already told her friends that it was her brother and sister-in-law who hosted her birthday party."
"Where will she put her face if you are absent?"
"I know you're jealous of her youth and fertility, but it's not Mona's fault that you can't get pregnant. Is it fun to always compete with her?"
"Well, you go celebrate her birthday tonight, and I'll grant you a wish the next day. You can tell me where you want to travel."
I was silent for a moment, then smiled and agreed:
"good."
