My cell phone suddenly rang. It was Lucas calling. "I see you have checked in at the hotel. You should have arrived safely, right?" he asked calmly. I said "hmm" softly, but my heart was in turmoil. The reason I was forced to stay in the hotel was because my suitcase was still in his car.
Lucas seemed a little impatient, "I left your suitcase in the hotel lobby, come down and get it yourself." I asked curiously, "Where are you going?" He answered as a matter of course, "I'm taking Sunny to the night market, you can rest in the hotel."
There was a rustling sound from the other end of the phone, followed by Sunny 's sweet voice. "Sophia, the car I took this morning broke down halfway, I didn't expect Brother Lucas to leave you halfway and come back to pick me up..." I vaguely heard Lucas sneering at the side, "I told you not to worry, she has hands and feet, how can she get lost?"
Sunny quickly apologized, "It's all my fault, don't blame Brother Lucas ." Lucas responded unhappily, "Why apologize to her? You did nothing wrong!" Sunny advised again, " Brother Lucas , don't say that, Sister Sophia will be angry if she hears it."
I listened to their conversation quietly and responded calmly, "I'm not angry, you guys go have fun." After hanging up the phone, I took a shower and sat on the bed browsing my phone. Suddenly, a message popped up from Sunny : " Sophia , it's a pity you didn't come. There are so many delicious foods at the night market!" Then, one photo after another came in. Lucas fed her grilled squid, she lined up to buy her stinky tofu, she smeared marshmallows on Lucas' face, and they licked a creative ice cream together ...
I replied indifferently, "No need." My thoughts drifted back to half a year ago, when Lucas and I were traveling together. I suggested going to the night market to try the local food, but he was curled up on the sofa in the hotel playing games and perfunctorily responded to me, "It's all junk food. Aren't you afraid of getting fat? Who wants to go out at night."
It was not until midnight that Lucas returned to the guest room and threw a dirty take-away box in front of me. "Sunny said she was afraid you would be hungry, so she packed some for you." I opened it and frowned. Inside was a hodgepodge of leftovers. Lucas added, "Sunny's room is next door. I'll go over and play a few games with her. You go to sleep first." As soon as he left, I threw the take-away box into the trash can. Lucas didn't come back until the next morning. I curled my lips, picked up my already packed luggage, and took the high-speed train back home.
