Evelyn knew exactly where Raymond was going. She tactfully opened the car door and chose to leave alone.

Back at the Yale family's old house, Raymond's mother saw that Evelyn was the only one there. She had guessed something and was about to go and bring Raymond back herself, but was stopped by Evelyn.

"Mom, his heart is no longer at home. If we bring him back by force, he will just be a shell. Let him be." After saying that, Evelyn went upstairs.
