Chapter 13: Agreement Reached
"Would you like to be my lover or my bed partner? If you had to choose, would you prefer the latter?" Charles gently put down the newspaper in his hand, staring at her with sharp eyes, a little surprised by her request.
Ivy had anticipated his reaction. Becoming his lover meant being able to access new fields and resources that she had never been involved in for more than 20 years. She had every chance to leap to a new class before Charles got tired of her. Moreover, she firmly believed that a man like Charles , even if he left in the future, would give her enough capital to fight for her whole life. This was undoubtedly a shortcut.
However , perhaps out of that ridiculous dignity, or fear of the unknown, she was never willing to give the right to choose the future to an unknown. Apart from the physical fit, she knew almost nothing about Charles. The pleasure based solely on the flesh was not enough for her to put herself in shackles.
