The meal was tasteless and everyone at the table was silent because of the recent incident.
After dinner, it started to rain heavily.
Jason Wilson tiptoed towards me again.
"Luna, it's not safe for Tiffany to go home alone. Wait here for a while. I'll pick you up after I drop her off."
I nodded in agreement.
Jason Wilson looked at me, as if he wanted to say something, but stopped himself. In the end, he just lightly held my hand and then let go, escorting Tiffany away.
I watched them leave, opened my phone to call a Didi, and despite Mrs. Wilson's attempts to keep me, I took the bus home alone.
The rain soaked my clothes and I laughed at myself for feeling so miserable.
Jason Wilson came back in the rain and hugged me tightly.
"I'm sorry, Luna. I've wronged you."
"It's just that Tiffany brought the child with her. I brought her here, so I have to settle her down first."
"Why don't you wait at your mother's house?" There was a hint of complaint at the end of his words.
"Can you be the only one to send her off?"
I asked seriously.
"What?"
"You and Harry all drove here today, so you're the only one who can take Tiffany home?"
Jason Wilson's eyes turned from confusion to shame and anger, and he pursed his lips.
"I……"
I interrupted him.
"You wanted to send it."
He suddenly became depressed and sighed softly.
"Luna, are you jealous? I only treat Tiffany as a sister."
"She is divorced and raising a child, and it's not easy. I'm thinking of our old relationship, so I'll help her if I can."
"Even quitting your job for her and starting a business together?"
I pushed him away, no longer willing to linger on this warmth that didn't belong to me.
Jason Wilson was stunned and continued to explain.
"You misunderstood. We founded this company together and we just wanted to seize the opportunity."
He adjusted his tie impatiently and looked at me with deep affection.
" Don't think too much. You're going to be a mother soon. Don't be so jealous. Be careful not to give birth to a jealous kid, okay?"
But our child is gone.
I was about to speak when Jason Wilson's cell phone rang.
The moment the call was connected, a baby voice was heard.
"Dad Chen, why don't you come to see me? The baby misses you."
He looked at me with panic in his eyes, quickly covered the receiver and walked towards the bedroom.
Soon, he changed his clothes and prepared to go out.
"I'm sorry, Luna, Tiffany said the child is sick and wants to see me, I..."
I shook my head indifferently.
"I'm fine, go ahead."
Jason Wilson kissed me on the cheek.
"After I finish my business, I will not contact her alone anymore and spend more time with you and the baby."
As soon as he left, messages came in from Harry and the other brothers.
"Sister-in-law, there's something going on at Tiffany 's. Can you let Jason Wilson go over there?"
I didn't reply and discussed the overseas branch matters with my supervisor.
In the circle of friends, Tiffany updated the status:
"The two most important men in my life."
