Under the expectant gaze of my mother-in-law Yvonne, I reluctantly drank three bowls of greasy chicken soup: "Mom, I really can't drink any more. You can drink some of the rest."

My husband Kevin smiled and said, "No way, this is something I asked mom to make for you, how can we drink it?"
