Chapter 5: The Surgeon's Aura During Surgery
Leo, the eldest son of the Lowe family, was thrown to the ground and suffered a brain injury when he and his sister encountered human traffickers. His IQ remained at the level of a five or six-year-old child.
It was because Leo kept calling for her sister after waking up that Mr. Lowe and Mrs. Lowe stepped up their efforts to find their daughter, claiming that their sister was ill and was receiving treatment. However, two months later, there was still no news of their daughter. Coupled with their son's constant noise, they finally decided to adopt Grace from an orphanage.
They wanted her to keep the name Sophia, but they were worried that their biological daughter would feel uncomfortable when she returned one day, so they kept the name given to Grace by the dean and only added the surname of the Lowe family .
Leo did not realize that his sister had been replaced. When Mrs. Lowe told him that his sister had become thin and her face had changed due to illness, he did not hesitate to pull Grace behind him and insisted that his sister was the most beautiful.
Mrs. Lowe said this because she was afraid that her son would recognize that this was not his real daughter, but when things developed as they wished, she just accepted it.
For Grace , the brother who stood firmly in front of her to protect her when she first arrived at the Lowe family was the warmest presence the Lowe family gave her. This warmth has not changed after Cathy returned home.
She knew that if her brother knew the news of her "death", he would be heartbroken. Thinking of this, Grace couldn't help but sigh, and only hoped that her brother could remember her advice, no matter how sad he was, he must remember to eat well.
Grace withdrew her thoughts and confirmed that the anesthesia had taken effect. After the wound was no longer painful, she took out the suture needle and thread, disinfected it, and then began the suture work...
As a surgeon, it was not difficult for her to suture wounds, but the length of the wound required eleven stitches. Fortunately, she had the help of anesthetics, otherwise she really didn't know if she had the courage to do it to herself.
After dealing with the biggest wound, the other minor injuries on her body were much easier for Grace . Although it was still painful, it was still within the tolerable range.
After treating all the wounds except the one on her back, Grace felt weak all over...it turned out that she was hungry.
It was already pitch black outside the tent. She was about to take out the remaining biscuits from her backpack to fill her stomach, but she heard Austin's voice: "I've cooked some porridge. If your wound is healed, eat some to replenish your energy."
Grace paused and silently gave him a "nice guy card" in her heart.
" Austin , can you help me get the porridge in? I can't move around right now." In fact, even if Grace didn't say it, Austin would take the initiative to help, after all, he had carried her in before.
But she still chose to ask, so as not to sound like she was giving orders. At this critical moment, she didn't want to cause any trouble.
Austin knew Grace had treated her wounds when she said this, so he filled a large bowl with porridge and brought it into the tent.
Grace didn't expect him to come so quickly, and quickly used her coat to cover the area below her waist. However, the coat was limited in length, and her white and shiny calves were still exposed.
Austin kept his eyes straight throughout the whole process. Grace also knew that he was introverted, so she didn't say much.
After finishing a full bowl of porridge, Grace couldn't help but burp, and secretly sighed in her heart: I'm really too full...
After she had her fill, she regained her strength. After resting for ten minutes, she asked them to bring Hu Zi in.
When Brighton helped carry Huzi into the tent, he was surprised to see Grace's face: "I didn't expect you to look so good after you've washed yourself."
Grace's heart tightened, but she did not feel shy, but rather a little nervous.
Austin, who was standing by, noticed her nervousness and immediately glared at Brighton: "Shut up."
Then he turned to Grace and comforted her: "Don't worry, you are safe now."
Brighton was a little confused by the scolding, but after hearing the captain's words, he understood: "No... Don't worry, I don't have any bad intentions. If I dare to do anything, our captain will be the first one to not forgive me."
"I know, I'm too sensitive..." Grace explained quickly.
Brighton also knew about Grace's experience of being abandoned by her companions and trying to hitchhike but met with misfortune, so he couldn't help but ask curiously: "You didn't come with a tour group, so you must be with some close friends, right? Why did they leave you alone?"
Austin was also curious about this matter and couldn't help but look at her.
When mentioning Mark and Cathy , Grace 's good mood instantly disappeared, and her voice became a little colder: "I met the wrong people. I couldn't tell whether they were human or ghost."
Austin asked, "Are they all your friends?"
"An ex-boyfriend, a..." Grace didn't know how to explain Cathy's identity. She was the biological daughter of the Lowe family, and she was just an adopted daughter. They were neither sisters nor friends.
"You're still hanging out with your ex-boyfriend?" Brighton was a little surprised.
"We broke up unilaterally last night." Grace answered briefly.
Brighton suddenly realized: it turned out that the other party ran away, and she chose to break up directly. Come to think of it, who can tolerate such a boyfriend? He couldn't help but sigh: The poor scumbag has a girlfriend, but he is still a bachelor.
Austin is not good at comforting people. He was silent for a long time before saying, "The old must go before the new can come."
Grace was stunned for a moment when she heard this, then she laughed: "Actually, if you think about it from another angle, I'm pretty lucky. Not only did I see through the scumbag, but I also met you guys."
Austin couldn't help but feel a little dazed when he saw Grace 's smile . After coming back to his senses, he frowned and wondered in his heart: What happened to me today? Grace did n't notice Austin 's abnormality after all, they were not familiar with each other. After they left, she began to clean the bloody wound on Jack's abdomen. Although Austin and his team had handled it before, it was obviously not professional.
After making sure the wound was cleaned, Grace gave him the remaining two-thirds of the anesthetic. However, thinking that he might wake up from the pain later, she called Austin and Brighton in.
" Just hold him down like this, right?" Brighton never thought that one day he would hold his brother down and let someone cut him. He pressed him down without mercy. Grace quickly reminded him, "Don't use the anesthesia yet. I haven't cut him yet."
" Just take out the bullet and we'll do the rest." Austin ordered.
"Yeah." Grace nodded and began to prepare the items needed for the operation.
When she thought the time was up, she sterilized the scalpel over the fire. Brighton was originally curious about how surgeons performed the operation, but when he saw Grace, the delicate little girl, cut the wound with a single cut, he was shocked.
The knife was fast, accurate, and ruthless without hesitation, which made him feel as if she was not cutting human flesh but pork.
This thought made him shudder. It turned out that girls who studied medicine were hard to mess with! Even if they looked delicate, they were hard to mess with!
