Chapter 2: Your frail body may not be able to bear it
The wolf locked onto Grace and approached her step by step, posing a dangerous threat.
In a flash, Grace decisively zipped up and hid in the shelter of the tent.
She remembered the popular science knowledge: wild wolves are wary of the situation inside the tent and dare not attack rashly.
Although this was knowledge she learned from the Internet, at this moment, her heart was still beating like a drum and she was extremely nervous.
Only after she was sure that the wolf had not attacked did she breathe a sigh of relief, turn on the light in the tent, and hold tightly in her hand the knife she had found, just in case.
Time passed quietly, and the noise outside the tent gradually subsided, but Grace still did not dare to act rashly, and spent the whole night in the tent.
The next morning, when she walked out of the tent, the wolf was gone.
She was more angry than sad. Her boyfriend, whom she had been in love with for three years, abandoned her at the critical moment.
The scene last night made her see the ugly side of Mark and Cathy. She didn't know what they were doing before they met the wolf.
After calming down, Grace packed up the remaining food and water in the tent and resolutely left this place that she could not take away. With no cell phone signal, she could only walk along the road alone.
On the other side, Mark stopped by the roadside, his eyes red and full of regret.
"Ado, this is not your fault." Cathy comforted softly, "The situation yesterday can only be attributed to Grace's bad luck."
" Grace is so afraid of pain, I should have tried my best to stop the wolf and let her run first." Mark's voice choked with sobs.
"But that was a wolf. You were bitten by a wolfdog when you were a child and you have psychological trauma. This is not your fault." Cathy gently counseled him.
Mark looked at Cathy and asked hesitantly, "Should we... go back to find her?"
"Have you ever thought that if something happens to her, it might attract the entire wolf pack? Then, we might not be able to escape." Cathy said worriedly.
" You're right. At least, we can bring back the news of her disappearance, which is better than letting her become a missing person. I heard that the soul of a person who is not confirmed dead cannot rest in peace." Mark said in a deep voice. Cathy heard this and looked at Mark with emotion : " Mark , you are so good to Grace , I am a little jealous of her."
"After all, she was once my girlfriend." Mark sighed helplessly.
If Grace could hear this ridiculous conversation, she would probably jump out of her grave and stab each of them.
At this time, Grace had been walking along the road for more than three hours. Under the scorching sun, her originally fair skin was tanned red.
Just then, a large truck drove up from behind.
Grace waved to stop the car without hesitation.
After confirming that the two people in the truck had honest faces and did not look like bad people, she said, "Hello, I want to take a ride to leave this uninhabited area. The fare is negotiable."
The driver Wang Qiang saw the young girl who stopped the car from a distance. When he saw Grace 's face clearly, his eyes lit up. He has been driving on this road for more than ten years, but this is the first time he has seen such an outstanding woman.
Although he could see that Grace was not short of money, unlike those poor female travelers who used their bodies to get a ride, she exuded a unique temperament.
But...so what?
The next second, Wang Qiang showed an honest smile: "Come up, it's not easy to be out, it's our duty to help each other."
He winked at his nephew, and the young man opened the car door with a red face: "Come on up."
" Thank you." Grace smiled gratefully and got on the bus with the help of the young man.
Along the way, Grace deliberately revealed that she was a surgeon and came from a family of police officers. Her father, mother, uncles and uncles were all police officers.
Although Wang Qiang felt a little worried after hearing this, he didn't take it to heart.
At noon, Grace declined their food and took out some dry food from her bag to fill her stomach.
However, in the evening, when the car stopped by the roadside and they set up the tent to rest, Grace was in a dilemma: "Uncle, I want to sleep in the car tonight, is that okay?"
"No, the car is full of our goods. What if you drive away?" Wang Qiang refused without hesitation.
"You hold the key, just leave a crack in the car window for me to breathe." Grace suggested.
Wang Qiang no longer pretended: "It's very cold at night, let's sleep in a tent and keep each other warm."
"Uncle, stop joking. I said I would give you the money." Grace's voice turned cold.
"Money doesn't work here. If you want to stay alive, you have to be obedient. You're lucky, we're uncle and nephew today, and your frail body should be able to withstand it. It will only take an hour or so to serve us." Wang Qiang said, his greedy eyes wandering over Grace.
Grace held the knife handle tightly and slowly stepped back...
Seeing Grace wanted to run, Wang Qiang was not in a hurry: "Go ahead and run. There are a lot of man-eating creatures in this place. If you leave us, you will be eaten by wolves." He thought this would scare Grace , but he didn't expect that she would rather face the wild wolves than surrender.
Seeing Grace turn around and run away, Wang Qiang hurriedly called his nephew to chase after her.
"Bitch, you have a very bad temper. When I catch her, I will teach her a lesson." Wang Qiang cursed as he ran.
The nephew next to him couldn't bear it: "Uncle, let's just leave her alone, right? She doesn't want to."
"How many times can you encounter such a good thing in the future? If you don't eat it when you encounter it, you'd be a fool." Wang Qiang roared.
However, they didn't expect Grace to run so fast.
Just as she was about to be caught up, two wolves appeared in the distance. "Damn! There are wolves here! Get out of here!" Wang Qiang pulled his nephew and turned to run. After all, life is more important than women.
Grace also saw the wolves, but she could not escape. She could only bite the bullet and run in another direction.
But how could she match the speed of the wild wolves? She didn't run far before she was caught up by two wild wolves.
The leading wolf pounced on her from behind, and then she felt a tearing pain in her thigh.
"Ah!" Grace cried out in pain, but she knew she had to fight back.
So she gripped the hilt of the knife tightly and stabbed hard at the wolf that was biting her thigh.
