Mr. Davis said, "Alex, you don't trust him, so you can't trust me?"

I was about to speak when my parents arrived. They said earnestly that Lily Davis only made a mistake occasionally and was essentially a good girl. There was no need to deny her completely because of a misunderstanding. No matter what, she loved me, and the fact that she had a high fever and was hospitalized tonight had proved this.

I don't know what kind of magic my parents were fed, but they actually changed their words to speak for Lily Davis. Mr. Davis and Mrs. Davis were trying hard to persuade me. It seemed that if I didn't agree to get back together tonight, they would never give up.

Finally, Tom swore a solemn oath that if he told even a single lie, he would be hit by a car and killed. I was forced to give in.

The four of them felt relieved. Tom also vowed that he would never ask Lily Davis to go camping again and let her stay at home and be a good wife and mother.

I looked at him deeply and didn't say much.

In the following days, Lily Davis changed her willful temper and became more attentive to me. She had never done housework before, but she learned to cook for the first time and even went to the supermarket to buy groceries. She also took care of other dirty and tiring work such as washing clothes, mopping the floor and taking out the trash.

When I got home from work, she would immediately hand me a pair of slippers and say, "Thank you for your hard work, husband."

I know that these were all taught by Mrs. Davis , but I didn't say much, just accepted it with pleasure. After rescheduling the wedding date, life seemed to slowly return to normal.

One day, there was a power outage at the company and I got off work early. I returned downstairs to the community and saw the familiar red SUV.

I frowned. Tom had completely faded out of Lily Davis' life in the past few days, but I didn't expect him to show up again today.

When I went upstairs to get my key, I realized I didn't bring it with me. I knocked on the door for several minutes before Lily Davis, wearing a bath towel and wiping her hair with a towel, came to open the door.

She asked me in surprise: "Why did you get off work so early today?"

I glanced at the living room and saw that no one was there, so I asked coldly, " Where's Tom ?"

" He's taking a shower and will be out soon." Seeing that I looked upset, she quickly explained, "Don't get me wrong, honey. It's not what you think. Tom came to help me fix the water pipe. We both got wet, so we took a shower."

"Repair the water pipe?" I asked, frowning.

"Yes, I was cooking when the water leaked suddenly. You were still at work, so I had to ask him for help." Lily Davis hugged my arm, "Honey, I really didn't lie to you."

I didn't say anything and took a look at the kitchen first. There was indeed a lot of water on the floor.

After a while, Tom came out, still wearing my pajamas.

"Oh, it's Alex who's back. I'm sorry, I came here in a hurry to fix the water pipe for Xiaoyan and forgot to bring clothes. I can only borrow yours. Do you mind?" he said.
