"Gavin? Why are you here!" Lara Brown looked at me in surprise, but her hand was still on Dustin's arm.
I held the red book they had just handed me in my hand. In the photo above, Lara Brown and Dustin were snuggling together, smiling sweetly and happily. My heart felt like a big hole had been chiseled out by a sharp weapon, and it hurt a lot, but I still endured it and didn't show it in the workplace.
I tried to stay calm, stamped the two marriage certificates with a steel stamp and handed them over: "I work here. The stamp has been stamped. I wish you two a happy marriage again."
Lara Brown 's face flashed a little unnatural, but then she widened her eyes and said: "Why didn't you tell me you worked here! I thought..." There was a hint of complaint in her words, "If I had known earlier, I would have brought Ah Chen here at another time. Why did I meet you today?"
The movement of my hand paused slightly. I didn't expect these words to come out of Lara Brown 's mouth. Lara Brown and I were college classmates. She was a year older than me. After graduation, she returned to her hometown to develop, and we began a long-distance relationship. In order to end this difficult long-distance relationship, I gave up the job arranged by my family and worked hard to get into her city to work. I wanted to give her a surprise, but I didn't expect that this surprise would become an unlucky thing on her wedding day with her childhood friend.
I suppressed my emotions, looked at the newlyweds waiting behind me, and pointed to the empty space next to me: "If you don't need anything, please go to the side. There are newlyweds waiting to go through the formalities behind you."
Perhaps irritated by my cold attitude, Lara Brown said unhappily: "What's your attitude? Be careful or I will complain about your poor service attitude!" Then she explained, "Also, there is a reason why Dustin and I got married. It happened suddenly and I didn't tell you. Don't make trouble here. I'll send Dustin home first, and then I'll pick you up after work."
After that, she took Dustin's hand and left. The two of them put their heads together and looked at each other's marriage certificates sweetly. Noticing my gaze, Dustin put the two freshly-made marriage certificates in front of his mouth and kissed them before leaving, looking at me provocatively. I clenched my fists angrily, and my nails left bloody marks on my palms.
The newlyweds standing behind us stared at us in amazement, gossiping about the relationship between the three of us. I was busy with my work and answered without even looking up, "My ex-girlfriend and her current husband."
