I graduated from the Department of Architecture with excellent grades. My professor was even willing to sponsor me to study abroad. However, because of Kevin, I finally rejected this opportunity. When I returned to campus many years later and met my old professor again, he was both pleased and moved, and kept encouraging me:
"It doesn't matter, it's never too late to start over in life!"
I nodded and borrowed more than a dozen books from the library using the professor's ID. Although Kevin's mother helped me get through the door, I still had to rely on myself for the exams. In order to make up for the missing years, I could only immerse myself in the library day and night.
That day, I came out of the library and was about to go to lunch. A breeze blew by, blowing down the sea of flowers. In the falling petals, I seemed to see the eighteen-year-old Kevin. When I first saw him, he was also standing under a violet tree like this, and that scene left a ten-year mark in my heart. However, now that I take a closer look, he seems to have been mediocre, nothing special.
Twenty-eight-year-old Kevin came forward and asked in disbelief:
"Linn, why do you want to abort the baby? Aren't you looking forward to it the most?"
How did he know?
Kevin saw my confusion and took out a list. "If the hospital hadn't sent me a follow-up form, I wouldn't have known that you had made such a decision without telling me!" He was too close, and the breath of anger and sadness came to my face. I took a few steps back and said lightly:
"Now that you know everything, you should understand that there is really no relationship between us now."
Hearing this, Kevin's body trembled slightly. He shook his head and said in pain:
"Linn, please don't be like this...please don't say such cruel things, okay?"
As he spoke, he took out a ring and put it on my ring finger. The ring was slightly cool, inlaid with a huge diamond, and the size was exactly right. However, what was the point? It was too late.
I took it off and gave it back to him, saying:
"I don't need it anymore."
This marriage, without a contract, a ring, or love, has long been dead in name only.
Kevin held the ring in his hand and cried in front of me. Passersby looked at him in surprise. I looked at him coldly for a while, then walked away from him. He followed me and cried all the way to the cafeteria, and finally sat in front of me, crying while watching me eat.
Kevin is actually very cunning. He knows that I can't bear to see him sad. He always plays tricks like this during rehabilitation training. He can escape a day's training by shedding two tears to me. He is betting that I will be soft-hearted and afraid of other people's weird eyes. However, I just pulled the dishes closer to me and said coldly:
"Don't cry into my bowl, thank you."
After lunch, I went back to the library to study. Kevin, who had no ID , was stopped outside. But he didn't leave. Instead, he became a stalker and followed me every day. I was busy studying and didn't have the energy to pay attention to him. So the days lasted for seven days.
I was eating in the cafeteria that day, and I felt someone was talking about me. When I looked up, I saw a red-haired girl at the next table suddenly stand up, grab the drink in front of her and throw it at me.
