I was in the quiet of the hospital when Kevin called.

"Didn't I tell you to wait for me at home?" There was a hint of displeasure in his tone, and he was obviously surprised by my whereabouts.

"I'm in the hospital treating my wounds," I answered calmly, trying not to let my emotions show.

He paused for a moment, as if he had just remembered my previous bleeding incident and couldn't wait for me any longer. He hummed guiltily and then hung up the phone.

At this time, the nurse happened to call my name. Seeing that I was alone, she asked again: "Are you sure you want to have an abortion? Does your partner know?" I nodded and lied. Anyway, I was about to leave, so there was no need to tell him this. Besides, when he knew I was pregnant, he just said lightly: "If you want to have a baby, have it." There was no joy of becoming a father.

When I got home after the operation, I was surprised to find Kevin there. He saw what I was holding and quickly hid it behind his back. In fact, I had already seen it. It was the sex toys that Zoe bought. When he saw me staring at his back, he had to explain: " Zoe 's express was sent to the wrong place. I sent it to her." I nodded without saying anything more.

" Is the wound okay?" He stretched out his hand to touch me, but I subconsciously dodged. His hand stopped awkwardly in mid-air, looking at me in confusion. Once, being touched by a lover was a happy thing, but I don't know when I began to resist him. Maybe it started when I found lipstick on his white shirt, or maybe it was because he always smelled of Zoe 's perfume... He was surrounded by traces of Zoe, and I hated it.

He put down his hand awkwardly, and seeing that I looked unhappy, he said for the first time: "You haven't eaten yet? I'll make it for you."

I didn't ask him why he stayed if he wasn't going to find Zoe . I just said yes and turned to wash up. Maybe my body was too weak after the operation. After taking a hot bath for a while, I fell to the ground with weak legs, and my lower back hit the sink. The pain was so severe that I couldn't move. The noise I made was loud enough to attract people outside the bathroom, but it was quiet outside the door.

I called Kevin's name twice, but got no response, so I had to endure the pain and climb up. When I came out of the bathroom, I found that the living room was empty. The refrigerator was wide open and tomatoes rolled all over the floor. There was a note on the table with Kevin's handwriting on it : " Zoe has a fever, I'll go see."

I suddenly pulled the corners of my mouth in self-mockery. When I fell just now, I actually hoped that he would be guarding outside the door. I should have expected it long ago. Kevin is not me. I spent three years taking care of a vegetative patient, and another two years helping him with rehabilitation and enduring his temper. Just because he said "Don't leave me", I stayed with him for so many days and nights. But he didn't fulfill any of his promises to me, but he always appeared by Zoe's side when I needed him. It's not worth it to spend ten years guarding such a person.

I tore up the note, threw it into the trash can, started packing my luggage, and said goodbye to my friends one by one.
