After leaving the supervisor's office, I waited for an hour before I saw Jasmine hurriedly walking out of her office.
"Hurry up, hurry up, don't keep Shawn and the others waiting for too long." she urged.
Downstairs, Shawn was waiting in the car. I was standing next to the car and suddenly heard a cat's meow. I turned to look at Jasmine.
"You gave him the key?" I asked.
"Yes, I missed Kity so much and can't wait to see it, honey, don't mind," she explained.
I remained silent, opened the car door and got in the back seat.
This was not the first time Jasmine had done this. I had argued with her about this before, and I ended up being blamed. She said I was too suspicious and that giving Shawn the key was just to make it easier for him to help her get home and get the information. Maybe she was right, I was too suspicious, but at this moment, it no longer mattered.
I sat in the car, thinking about what my supervisor had just said. He mentioned that competition for places for further studies abroad was fierce, and his recommendation might not be useful. I understood his subtext, that he hoped I could ask Jasmine for a recommendation. However, looking at Jasmine, who was holding her cat and chatting and laughing with Shawn, I didn't want to say anything.
After arriving at the restaurant, Jasmine asked me, "Honey, why are you acting weird today? Did something happen?"
I shook my head: "No."
Shawn 's parents, sister, and brother-in-law came out from the box. His sister smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, you are finally here. Is this your friend?"
Jasmine quickly explained: "No, no, he is my boyfriend and we are going to get married soon."
Shawn's mother was surprised and said, "Ah, he is your boyfriend? I thought you were my son's girlfriend. After all, I arranged for you to stay in the same room during the wedding, and you didn't refuse."
"Auntie, you misunderstood." Jasmine looked flustered and looked at me worriedly, as if she was afraid that I would have a fit on the spot and cause a mess.
"Don't get me wrong, Shawn's house is not big and I don't want to cause any trouble," I explained.
Shawn smiled and said, "Yes, Jasmine doesn't live with me. She stayed in a hotel at night."
I smiled indifferently and looked at Jasmine and said, "Actually, you don't have to explain."
She seemed very surprised and had never expected me to say that.
"Aren't you angry?" she asked.
"Don't be angry, I understand, you have already explained it." I replied.
Jasmine was relentless: "Do you trust me so much? Don't you want to ask again?"
I found it a little funny to hear this. She used to stay out late with Shawn, and I asked her about it, but she said I was suspicious and didn't trust her. Now I believe her, and she asked me to ask again. But I don't want to ask anymore. Does it matter whether she lives with Shawn or not?
Shawn's brother-in-law stepped out to smooth things over: "Waiter, serve the food."
Jasmine didn't ask any more questions, and started chatting with Shawn 's sister and brother-in-law, and even brought me along.
" Hubby, listen to this, we'll do the same for our wedding," she said.
I had no interest at all and just ate the food quietly with my chopsticks. Shawn kept picking up food for Jasmine and gave her some suggestions from time to time. It looked like he and Jasmine were a couple who were planning a wedding.
Jasmine finally noticed that I hadn't said anything, so she asked, "Honey, give me some advice, what do you think of Shawn's sister and brother-in-law's wedding?"
"That's fine, but I don't need it," I replied.
Jasmine was a little angry: "Husband, how can you say that? We are seeking for the truth now. Don't you want us to have an unforgettable wedding?"
I looked at her calmly: "We won't have a wedding. I have canceled the wedding and decided to break up with you."
