Julian called an ambulance in a panic. After my future mother-in-law was sent to the hospital, I took the opportunity to move my things back to my original bedroom. My mother once said that the reason she chose this villa was because of this bedroom, and she thought I would definitely like it.
However, not long after I moved in, Julian came back. When he saw me move back, he had a complicated expression: "It's good to move back. Actually, I discussed it with our mom before, and she agreed to return the room to you. She wanted to move in together when I was off work. I didn't expect this to happen before we moved in."
"By the way, why did you only move your things back and not mine?"
" Joyce , I'm not saying anything bad about you, but the tone you used when talking to mom today was too harsh. After all, we're about to become a family, why do you have to calculate the money so clearly?"
I sneered: "Your mother is right, we should live separately from now on. After all, we are not a family yet, right?"
"I would like to treat your mother as a family member, but she doesn't want to and insists on settling things with me. I can't do anything about it."
Julian sighed, and his tone suddenly softened: "My mother is old, and she also wants to see me get married and start a family. What's more, she just had surgery not long ago, so don't bother with her, okay?"
As he said this, Julian wanted to come over and hug me with a flattering look on his face: "Didn't you say that you have a small house that can be transferred to my name? My mother is making a fuss in the hospital because she sees that I have no house. Maybe after you transfer the house to me, she will calm down."
Only then did I understand that Julian's plan was to comfort me instead of staying in the hospital to take care of my future mother-in-law because she was ill.
I evaded his embrace and sighed, "It's no problem to transfer the house to you. But there's someone renting that house now, and the lease will expire in a few months."
I was going to confront Julian , but when I thought about what happened to my mother, I was worried that she would be killed by Julian before I could avenge her . So I decided to compromise temporarily.
" But don't worry, I can talk to the tenant and ask him to move out early. After he moves out, I will transfer the property to you, so your mother can rest assured."
Julian finally breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what I said. He looked at the time and said gently, "Joyce, it's getting late. You should go to bed. I'll go get you some hot milk."
I smiled and nodded. After a while, Julian came into the bedroom with a cup of steaming milk. Looking at the cup of milk, I suddenly remembered what Melinda said.
While Julian was turning around, I quickly put the milk into a plastic bag and pretended to have drunk it. After seeing Julian go out without worry, I got up, took the bag of milk, and went to a food testing agency. I wanted them to help me test whether the milk contained any harmful ingredients to the human body.
Then, I stuffed a thick stack of banknotes into the hands of the person who received me. After a while, the test results came out. Sure enough, the bag of milk contained excessive formaldehyde. Long-term intake can cause nausea and nosebleeds at the mildest, and life-threatening at the worst.
Fortunately, I don’t drink milk every day, otherwise I would have died in Julian’s hands. I have to say that Julian really disguised himself too well. If I hadn’t discovered the secret between him and Melinda , I would still think that my mother’s death was just an accident. Now it seems that the accident was actually a carefully planned murder. However, my mother has been dead for some time, and even if I want to find out the truth, I have nowhere to start.
Unless we can find a way to make the murderer confess. Therefore, a bottle of poisoned milk is not enough. So, I bought a few cameras and installed them in every corner of the house when no one was at home. One day, they will be exposed.
Since I agreed to transfer the house to Julian , he has never contacted me again. But after my future mother-in-law came back from the hospital, she still accused me every day in a sarcastic tone: "So what if the house is yours? You didn't earn money to buy it yourself, what's there to be proud of? You are just a parasite!"
I really wanted to show her the balance in my card and tell her that even without my parents, I could buy several villas like this one. But after thinking about it, I held back.
