De dokter ontmoette ons drieën in haar kamer nadat we gegeten hadden. Ze had de CT-scanbeelden bij zich en een hele stapel papierwerk.

Bloedonderzoek was allemaal normaal; Iris was een "beeld van gezondheid" in veel verschillende opzichten, meldde de dokter vrolijk. Ik denk dat ze hier vooral van onder de indruk was, gezien de laatste onthulling van het bezoek: de hersenscan.

Er zat nog steeds een kogel in Iris' hoofd. Dat deel van het verhaal had ze me niet verteld. Dat die niet was verwijderd en er nog steeds in zat.
